3 Routines That Instantly Improve Your Performances

Winning is a habit.

Just like other habits, you have to build it, it does not happen overnight.

A positive mentality and self-belief is a good starting point.

However, you still need to take daily actions to ensure winning outcomes.

This is where routines become important.

One of the most important routines you can have is a morning routine.

Routines remove the guesswork from your day and put you in a position to win.

It’s less about being perfect and more about finding what is perfect for you.

Here are some actions you can consider adding to your morning routine.

Mindset Meditation:

What it is: A focused practice to clear your mind and center your thoughts, setting a positive tone for the day.

Why it matters: Mental clarity leads to sharper decision-making on the field. By visualizing success, you build mental resilience, crucial for overcoming in-game challenges.

How to execute: Start with just five minutes each morning. Find a quiet space, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. Visualize your goals, both immediate and long-term. Imagine what it would be like if you achieved them, but also imagine what it would be like if you failed! (We are more motivated by moving away from pain than moving towards pleasure.)

Holistic Hydration:

What it is: Beginning your day with adequate water intake to rehydrate your body after a night's sleep.

Why it matters: Proper hydration is crucial for optimal physical performance, concentration, and recovery. Starting your day well-hydrated sets the tone for maintaining fluid intake, crucial during training and games.

How to execute: Drink at least 16 ounces (about 500 ml) of water upon waking up. Keep a water bottle handy and sip regularly before, during, and after your morning routine and training. Consider incorporating water-rich foods like fruits into your breakfast for added hydration.

Mindful Movement

What it is: A series of movements (stretches or yoga) that prepare your body for the physical exertions of training and gameplay.

Why it matters: Mindful movement increases your heart rate, activates your muscles, and enhances your flexibility, significantly reducing the risk of injury.

How to execute: Exercises like yoga work perfectly here. Going through a series of stretches similar to your football stretching routine also works. Spend at least 10-15 minutes moving your body.

A good morning routine is just the beginning of creating a winning day.
